I wished someone would send me some pumpkin patch for fall and Halloween!  loved the flowers and the vase – shaped like a pumpkin – and definitely appropriate for the season.   I know that Houston flower delivery have them for sale at $19.99 – so it’s super good deal!  now if only we had such a deal here where I lived.  I bet my in-laws or an aunt would love to receive some flowers like the above.  And they also have cookies that they will deliver to your doorsteps too – so if you have a favorite niece or nephew or a god-daughter or a god-son – you could be the best aunt or uncle in the world.

Cute and yummy looking cookies will be a hit with kids & adults – that’s for sure.

Fall is definitely here when you see all these even in the grocery store – so I thought I would snapped some pictures and share some good ideas on how you can decorate your home with pumpkins, flowers and gourds.

Love the little puppets on the little pumpkins – this gives me some ideas to do this for my home too.

I love this and I’m sure you can do it as a DIY project with your kids as well.

The folks at Apartment Therapy had some really good Halloween etiquette to share – so I thought I would let you readers know about them.

Rule #1: Only approach well-lit, decorated homes.

A major clue that a homeowner is game to dish out treats on Halloween is if their porch light—or driveway light—is on and blazing in the October dusk. If the lights were off, we knew they were out of candy or off having some grown-up Halloween fun.

Make sure your motion sensor lights is off – if you are not dishing out treats or trick – and don’t leave your lights on either – or your doorbell will be ringing the entire night – and some may get mad if you don’t open or answer your door.   Happy Halloween everyone!

Inspired by the kids’ school fall fair – I decided that this year we are going to decorate our pumpkins – instead of carving them.  So these are a few ideas – I found on the internet – pretty interesting and don’t looked too hard to do either.

At the Farmer’s market on the weekend – looking for some organic fruits and veggies for the family – of course we hope to get some free range chicken as well.  It’s always such fun doing the Farmer’s market during autumn – not too hot and the chilly weather – just makes us all want to get some hot chocolate before heading home.

We had an early thanksgiving dinner at home since we needed to go to the in-law’s on Sunday.  We had friends and neighbors come by and celebrate with us  – for we are thankful for good friends and good neighbors.

We had an adult table and a teenager table – so that the kids can do what they want and we adults can have some adult’s conversation.

The decor was simple and I had a good time preparing the tables and food.

It was still early – when we had our tables all set up as you can see.  Dinner didn’t start till 6pm.

My theme was white mostly and a little bit of fall color to make it stand out even more.  We had a good dinner and the company was even better.

Bringing the autumn scent into your home and make your home feel so cozy and so fall – was what my kids said to me – when i went out shopping for Halloween.  They wanted the autumn scent when we open the door for the neighborhood kids who comes by for their trick and treats.  We usually use body shop fragrance oil but this time we wanted something different – to make our home look more autumny.  So we bought these cute looking pumpkin candles and now our home smells like sweet cinnamon apple.  What does your home smell like during autumn? or you just don’t bother?

Still not too late to get these spooky templates to create the Halloween mood for your home.  These easy silhouettes is a great project for you and the kid, plus it’s great to have them participate.. that way they can be proud of their handy work.    As day turns to night, call on candles to cast an eerie glow throughout your home. When fierce silhouettes are propped above them, spectacular shadows dance across the walls.  So before going out to get those holiday gifts, you can always set the kids to work on this while you go shopping.

While we are at Halloween dressing up for the house, I thought this might be a great center piece for Halloween day as well.  So how does one make their apple black and glossy red.  The above is the creation of Matt’s bite, so if you want some spooky apple, follow the recipe below or head over to their blog.

Red & Black Candy Apples

8-10 medium sized apples
8-10 wooden twigs, twimmed
3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup of water
several drops of cinnamon flavored oil
1/4 teaspoon of red food coloring
1/4 teaspoon of black food coloring
Clean and dry the apples. Try to remove as much of the wax as possible. If you purchase them from your local farmer’s market then chances are they have not been treated with the food grade wax that makes then shine. Remove any stems or leaves and insert a twig into the end of each apple. To facilitate easier twig entry you can carefully sharpen the end of the twig or use a candy stick to create a guide hole. Set apples aside.

Heat and stir sugar, corn syrup and water in a saucepan until sugar has dissolved. Boil until the syrup reaches 300 degrees on a candy thermometer. Don’t go over 310 degrees or your candy burns and then you’ll be sad.

Remove from heat and stir in flavored oil and food coloring.

Dip one apple completely in the syrup and swirl it so that it becomes coated with the melted sugar candy. Hold the apple above the saucepan to drain off excess. Place apple, with the stick facing up, onto a baking sheet that’s greased or lined with a silpat. Repeat the process with the remaining apples. If your syrup thickens or cools too much, simply reheat briefly before proceeding. Let the apples cool completely before serving.

Now this is what I call creative thinking – maybe I should do something like that for Halloween this year.  I hope I’m not too late for it. I wonder how hotel disneyland is decorating theirs this year – i bet it would be a sight to behold.

This one is another good display..  but a lot of carving needed and i know I won’t be able to do it.  So I’ll settle for the first one – instructions as per Martha Stewart.. the queen of decorating.

These decorations bring sparkle to tables and serving areas-and they last far longer than jack-o’-lanterns. To make one, use a medium-size paintbrush to spread a layer of white glue over the surface of a small pumpkin. Hold pumpkin over a paper plate or a sheet of newspaper to catch excess glitter. Sprinkle powder glitter over pumpkin in several colors (we used penny, persimmon, orange, and pink champagne), covering completely. Let dry for about one hour; shake off excess glitter. Coat stem with brown acrylic paint; let dry. Pumpkins will keep for months
