I would love to buy something like this for the lawn for Christmas decor but at $25 a pop  – now that’s too much I’ll have to say!  darn! i should have bought more stuff during the craft show at the Rodd Grand Hotel this year.  I can understand that they are hand painted at at 22″ tall – but still – pretty ex – for me.  So I’ll have to keep looking for some other lawn decor.

Lawn decor for Christmas is now in session – we are taking out stuff – getting ready to decorate the lawn once Remembrance Day is over.  As a show of respect – we never decorate before Remembrance Day.   This year – I hope we can get all the stuff out before the end of November – Christmas is but 50 something days away.  In this household, Christmas is the biggest celebration for us – and the entire town.

This greenhouse isn’t mine – but after seeing what my friend did with her backyard – I’m motivated to have a greenhouse this winter – so that my chinese vegetables can continue to grow in the winter for our own consumption.  Now in order for me to put the greenhouse down – I have to push the backyard a little further towards our property marker.  I need at least 2 skid steer loaders to help me to remove the forest where our backyard is – and to excavate the soil to make the ground flat – that way the greenhouse can sit properly onto it.   I don’t know if it is a lot of work or not – but I know someone who has a skid steer loader – who does farming work as well as lumber.   The greenhouse looks absolutely inviting – and I am sure I will make good use of it all year round.

At $25 I’m so getting these plastic made solar lantern for my garden  – I’m sure my outdoor garden would look fabulous with these lantern – so simple yet so dramatic looking.   And since this is solar powered – you don’t have to worry about wiring them at all.  One can buy it from Allsop Home and Garden in US, free shipping for orders over $75.  In case you are wondering how big the solar lantern is – it is 10″ by 10″ by 10″.

Purchasing a paddle boat like this had always been in my on my list – but I don’t want to spend so much money on one – because we can only use it for like a month or so – every year.  Weather here in Nova Scotia is very foggy most times – and even in the summer – we experience a lot of fog.  But when it came on sale – at the yard sale – for half the price – I found it pretty reasonable – so we bid for it – and got it for the kids.  This paddle boat allows up to 3 person on it – so it is pretty cool – both the spouse and kid can come along with me – to the Lake Milo in the evenings – I loved it – great exercise for me too.

So I’ve always wanted a swing set for my kids – just like this one – when they were younger.  Back then – they didn’t have online yardsale – so you won’t know who is selling off their home made swing set like now.  When I saw this selling for $250 – I thought of those days when we could have bought this and not worry of making the spouse take time off – to make something like that for the kids.  So folks – if you don’t have a online yard sale in your area – time to start one on Facebook.

Handmade by a talented local lady – I found this on an online yard sale and planning to get on of it – or maybe 2 and paint the planter stand – or stain it – depending on my mood.  For $20 tax included – I say this is a darn good buy – so look out on your local yard sale for the good stuff.

We love spending time outdoors when the summer arrives and because the weather can turn harsh and raining even before winter – it is a great way to buy a foldaway table and chairs for our outdoors picnic and eating.

We were at the Farmer’s Market last week and saw these Adirondack furniture and fell in love with it – I told the spouse that I need to get them – but alas – the spouse didn’t have the van to bring them home.   I think these would make really lovely patio furniture for the summer – I love the hand painted flowers  – as well as the color of the chair – it fits my patio perfectly.   Now if only they have one made for a child that would be perfect!  Anyhow, we kept the number for the lady who sold the Adirondack chairs and will call her as soon as the spouse is available with the van to bring them home.  I think it is really good investment – it’s really beautiful.

The spouse’s family love their cigars a lot – so when they got another box of  black & mild cigars – the kids were eying on the cigar boxes left in the basement – and one of them had an idea – on what their grandfather can turn those empty cigar boxes into.  So a search on the internet brought some wonderful ideas for the kids and their grandfather to work on this summer.  Who would have thought that you can turn cigar boxes into a ukelele and birdhouses.

The boys would help their grandfather and uncle cut the cigar boxes and shape them into bird houses while the girls – they can paint it if they like.  They were thrilled – so for the cigar lovers – don’t throw those boxes away – make it a summer project for you and the kids – my kids are really loving it.
