For those who are waiting for a good sale for your Christmas decors – Wicker emporium is now having a 50% discount – so make sure you stock up for next Christmas now.   We usually don’t get new items till they go on sale – and only use them the following year – I think that this is smart buying and I certainly wouldn’t pay full prices for seasonal decoration.   As a woman/mother and wife – one has to learn how to save a penny whenever we can.  Wicker Emporium has some really good stuff this year – so check it out before they are all taken.

This was the first time I attended the Annual Craft show in this town – and boy!  I surely missed all the fun stuff.  I didn’t expect so many crafts on sale here – so I wasn’t really planning to buy a lot plus the weather was terrible the day I went.  Hopefully, next year – the weather would be better – but I will be prepared next year to buy more than I did this year.

All these lovely craft are a lot more cheaper than when you purchase them in a store.

And there were many talented people here  – as you can see from all the display.

I really wished I had bought more – because as soon as I got home – I regretted not getting these as well.

What pretty lamps right?  you would think it is very expensive but apparently not – bought in Thailand at $12 each – they are actually a DIY project – easy and all you have to do is put different light bulbs into them and light up.  I will find out more about it  – and see if I can order them online.  Check back later folks.

Shell lamps like this one is not uncommon – in fact during the 80s  – they were really popular – so when I saw them at our local Wicker’s Emporium – I cannot helped but think of the shell lamp that I had so admired when I was a kid at my mom’s friend home.  I think they had gotten theirs from a holiday trip they took in Philippines – and I think whoever designed this lamp must either be inspired by a Filipino or is an Asian.

It’s very pretty – but for a pair even on sale it would cost me close to $200 – so I didn’t buy it now – I will wait for a clearance before getting it.  For now I would just have to enjoy my shell chime that I had bought and hung on my windows.

I’m so excited – I’m getting one for myself in my bedroom for me and the spouse.  This book rest lamp doubles up as a book rest of course and is designed by Sang Jin Lee.  For those who are not familiar with Sang’s work – you can check out – my deco site and see all his unique designs.

Made of frosted glass – it does look a bit dim to read in – so hopefully it isn’t and when you are tired from reading – just hang your book over the rest – and do not be afraid that the book may cause a fire – because it wouldn’t.   Actually a very good gift for children or for anyone.  At £39.99 – don’t forget to add shipping on top of it – hopefully, you can find one somewhere near you – so you can save on the shipping.  But you can buy them online from Mocha.uk.com – check it out yourself.

These bulkhead vintage lamps are found on a UK site by accident and they are at £295- about $470 in Canadian dollars.  Originated from Poland in the 1960s – they definitely looked like something I grew up with.  I would love to have these in our outdoor gardens – they would look so retro.

Our tv room’s table lamp had been broken for a long time now – i only recently noticed it a lot more because we have been using the tv room more.  So when I was looking for some ellipticals with a girlfriend – we went over to the local mall to hunt for some lamp shades.   But alas, there were lots of lamps to be sold but not lamp shades and the ones that i found were as expensive as the entire lamp itself – i might as well buy the lamp.

Thank God for Ikea – although we don’t have one in town – one can buy them online – for less than $10  – but what hurts most about buying online is the shipping charge – and because I’m in a remote area in Canada – the shipping cost an arm and a leg – no winning situation for me eh.   So instead – I’m waiting because we are heading up the city next week – i will go look for some then.

During the 80s these were very popular in the homes of relatives – they were not cheap – i think at a few hundred dollars.  I saw it on sale online and the seller was asking for $895!!  vintage it is.. because she claimed it was from the 60s – and i cannot agree more with her – but if you were in Asia.. or find an exporter from Asia.. or even go down to Chinatown in Toronto or Vancouver one can get them a lot cheaper there.  And if you were in Philippines or Bangkok – boy! these things just come cheap.  My girlfriend got her photo graduation invitations in Asia.. and they were very good price.  But if you are in Asia.. make sure you go with someone from that area.. else you will be paying an arm and a leg too.

As you all know – aiming to have more asian influence at home is my goal -not only to teach my children how about my ancestors but also to let them know they are half Asian as well.   My spouse’s  business plan consultant had the same taste as I have even though he is not a Chinese nor did he marry a Asian wife.  But his love for Asian decor is highly admirable and cloisonne was introduced by him to me. This Japanese lantern is another treasure he found and shared with me and knowing how much i liked it – he even offered to bring it back for me the next time he is in Asia.   I look forward to having this Japanese lantern in my family room.

Never too early for Christmas, I’ve always argued with the spouse, just like those who buys the Wii now for their children, I decorate now for Christmas.   But it’s not the Christmas decor that caught my eyes at the Pottery Barn but this mood lamp that one can use on Christmas and throughout the year.

A wee bit expensive for my liking but i think it will be used all year round and all kind of festive seasons.  At $79 for the smallest right up to $129 for the biggest of this star light lamp.  Use it indoors or outdoors and if you like as a table decoration.
