We bought this for Christmas and the kids are reluctant to let me keep it away since Christmas is over – the loved their Santa toilet cover and mat.  But for any kind of toilet cover and mat – you and I know that it has to be washed quickly because of all the bacteria that may have landed on the mat and seat.   I myself do not encourage toilet seats like that all year round – except for Christmas.  What about you? what is your take on toilet seat covers and mat?

The Elliott Dopp Kit was a must buy for me – because the spouse traveled a lot and he needs to put his toiletries in a nice holder. This is also a great gift for any guy who travels – I’ve seen this many years ago – when a co-worker had used this – and I had admired it – but too manly for me.  Made with reclaimed truck inner tube – it’s quite different right?  At $22 – usual at $32 – looks like leather but not – genuine leather – I think for $22 – it’s a great buy.

I’m absolutely in love with  contemporary bathtubs and after seeing the above online – I know what I’m saving up for next.  To the spouse a tub is a tub – but that so not true  – because a designer tub like the above is to die for.  Any woman out there who sees this – would be swoon too.  It’s like a chocolate lover seeing their beloved chocolate or a coffee addict with their coffee.  So what do I like about the bathtub – it’s the color, the shape and the clawfoot as well as the fact that you can have everything chrome – meaning no rust in the future – woohoo!   But I especially like the depth of the bathtub – because our old bathtub just don’t soak deep enough as we all would like – now with this designer bathtub – I know I would love taking a bath every day and don’t mind scrubbing it too – it’s so pretty.  Yes !  I love pretty things – and anything that look stylish and works well to my needs – I know it’s  a little more expensive than most bathtub but I know that it would be well worth it.

As I started cleaning and organizing our medicine cabinet – I also saw many medication and pill bottles that needed to be thrown away.  As a mom it is important to keep tab of what is in your medicine cabinet because you need to know what your teenage kids are taking and what they are not.  For example – if I hadn’t  had the habit of doing it – I wouldn’t have known that my kid started taking diet pills recommended by her school friends.  I had looked up the  lipozene side effects as soon as I saw it in our medicine cabinets – so that I can chat with her about it.  I didn’t do what my mom would have done when I was young – I made sure I know the facts before chatting with her.  I didn’t want to make my kid feel bad – about taking diet pills – and lower her self-esteem.  So yes, moms and parents – keep your medicine cabinet organized at all times – so that your kids wouldn’t hide what they are taking from you.  And if you do find something suspicious – make sure you talk with them.

Weekends are family time for the entire family and we try to do stuff that the kids like – like shopping and driving around to look for unique things.  One event we like to go to – is the town’s farmer’s market and we wished they would have it all year round but alas, the farmers don’t have that much veggies to sell all year round it seems.  So we headed out to the farmer’s market in conjunction with the SPCA with the kids and we found some handmade soaps  to buy.  Usually I buy them from Etsy but if we can find them here locally – we must of course support our local businesses.  We bought a few soap and regretted not buying more because the kids loved it so much – they wanted one for their own and I was left with none.  Hopefully, I can get ahold of the talented seller and get some more from her before the summer.

Putting a bathroom in our basement is what I want to do most – when we get a chance – so I talked to a friend who is a contractor and he told me that it was possible – but  needed to go near the washing machine rooms.  But I want to be a little bit more ambitious and put in a shower stall too.  With a few kids at home, you can imagine how busy our upstairs bathroom gets -  but a shower stall will be a lot more feasible.   The shower stall glass will be the most expensive one item – about $1000 and then we have to put in the waterproof  flooring as well – just a major project too.  But the bathroom downstairs will look something like the above picture.   Simple but elegant  and definitely gotta be usable.  I think it would definitely make a lot of people at home happy.

There are many things one need in the bathroom at home especially when you have teenage boys and girls living at home.  Some of the must have things and requested constantly are acne creams but for me – i always have the best best anti wrinkle creams in my bathroom.  When I go to the city with the spouse or when we do travel – the anti-wrinkle cream comes with me too.  Whenever, I don’t use my anti-wrinkle cream at night – I feel like my face – don’t feel and look as good  – maybe it is just in my head – but a woman gotta do what they gotta do to look their best right.

We are throwing away our bathroom scale for this high tech digital scale that is only about $40 – to begin with.  We have bought many scales in the past – cheaper ones – but they either don’t give the accurate weight – or they break down on you.  This one is almost like the one I have back home in Hong Kong – from another brand – but this one is better because it tracks the weight of up to 4 users.  It also tells you – your last weight – goal set and the differences between different users. It is safe too – because it’s impact resistant glass – so don’t worry about breaking the glass platform.  And at $40 – you can’t go wrong! plus every home needs a good scale or two.

When you have a few teenagers running around in your home and sharing the bathroom and toiletries – you are bond to get a really disorganized and in fact very messy bathroom. Every morning – one or the other would be screaming for things they cannot find – from acne cream or cream for their dark circles to cotton buds.   You know how teens are – they get really cranky when they are late for school.

I think the girls are worst than the boys when it comes to organizing their vanity table or toiletries.   They have foundations for their faces – lip care and all sorts of creams.  My youngest who is always getting eye luggages and dark circles from a bad night or cramping exam papers & revision – has tons of creams for it – coz’ she can’t face the world without covering them up.

So I came up with a plan – I’m getting them a carry on caddy for their individual stuff – that way – they don’t have to mess up the entire bathroom and they have everything they need in these caddies.  The boys will get the black ones – while for the girls – I trying to find pink ones for them.  So dark circle creams or blemish creams or pimple ones – they can all go into one caddy. Happy mom!  because of no more mess! awesome!

So we finally gave in and promised the boys to give them their own bathroom in the basement.  Yes – we do have a guest bathroom – but the girls uses it – when there are no guest/s in the house.   Plus we found some really good deals at Saniflo toilet that we can afford.  Bathroom sinks and taps were also on sale – so we figured this was the best them to get a contractor in.  We went out choosing the right bathroom mirrors and things we needed with the boys – and did some calculations – before buying them – and now we are all set – frames up for the bathroom – the kids are so excited.   The girls even more because now they don’t have to clean after the boys – and my deal with the boys were – they had to clean the bathroom themselves – once a week – i wasn’t doing more housework.
