Moving House

As I sat here helping a girlfriend pack up her entire household – and moving to another continent – I cannot help but wonder if hiring the long distance movers would be easier for her.   The rooms were like a tornado just dropped in and the kids were a bit lost too.  She didn’t have any kitchen space because everything was just dumped onto it and the floor space were gone too.  Too much to throw out and didn’t know where to start.

I feel for her, I really do – when I moved some 6 yrs ago,  my kid was still very young, the spouse did a lot of stuff, from packing to coordinating stuff.  But the major moving of big appliances and electronics were done by movers.  Truth be told, we couldn’t have done it without them – they really knew what they were doing – and they were really systematic about everything.  What about you?  have you used movers?  or did you just roped in some friends and relatives?
